I bought my first dildo a few days ago. It is a silicon "realistic" 7" penis. I have tried using it about 4-5 times now and every time it really hurts. I use water based lubricant both on the dildo and on myself. As I am pushing it in it hurts, and when the 'head' goes in, I feel pain again and I am unable to continue on. Is this normal? What can I do? Thanks

First off I have no idea how old you are and I don't have any information about your sexual experiences. So I'm guessing here. If you are young and just learning about sex, the clitoris is your primary sex organ, not your vagina. When something hurts, it a signal to stop doing it. Focus on stimulating your clitoris. Read my information on Betty's Barbell and how to get in touch with your pelvic floor muscle. My entire website is full of useful information or get my book "Sex for One." It always amazes me how many women think that shoving something inside their vaginas is sex.
If you're a victim of the abstinence only message, it's understandable. However, if you are an older woman heading into or having passed menopause, your vaginal lining has naturally thinned out which would require some kind of hormone replacement. Again, I would recommend getting either a battery or plug-in electric vibrator for clitoral stimulation. Either way, it's time to educate yourself about female sexuality. You can do that by taking advantage of all the information on my website.
